Red Line Club members voted this Porsche 959 into production in Spectraflame purple with a tan interior. It is made to order: every member who orders inside the two-week window gets one, and the run size will match those orders.

Why collectors want it
- Member-voted: through sELECTIONs, RLC members chose the casting, colour and wheels.
- First release with Real Riders BB wheels with gold-painted hubs, according to Mattel's listing.
- Sold only to paid Red Line Club members.
- Not the first RLC 959: Mattel Creations also lists an earlier RLC Exclusive 1986 Porsche 959 at $25, now sold out.
Scarcity and supply
Made-to-order. Mattel's terms say orders are taken for the whole window with no purchase limit, and sELECTIONs are produced in the quantity members order. There is no sell-out, so any secondary-market premium can only come from buyers who missed the window, and it would form after orders ship. Mattel does not publish the final run size.
Condition and packaging
- Keep the Kar Keepers clamshell. Collectors generally treat it as part of a complete carded example.
- Inspect card corners and the blister on arrival. Shipping damage is the main condition risk for mail-order drops, and Mattel says it can't guarantee replacements for limited cars.
Authenticity checks
- The listed specification is Spectraflame purple over ZAMAC, Real Riders BB wheels with gold/silver detail, and a tan interior. Different wheels or a different interior colour is a red flag.
- Genuine examples ship on an illustrated blister card inside a Kar Keepers clamshell.
